Overview
The idea behind their Grassroots Giving campaign is to help community organisations, or groups, who only have access to limited funding from elsewhere. For this reason, registered charities will not be able to request funding via Grassroots Giving. The Skipton Building Society Charitable Foundation has already been set up as a bespoke funding stream for charities.
Applications are invited from:
- Any community group based in the UK;
- Where people involved in the group are all volunteers;
- Where groups can show how a Grassroots Giving donation would benefit their community;
- Where the donation would benefit vulnerable people e.g. homeless, elderly, deprived areas, etc
Judging Criteria
- They look for applications from organisations or groups that show a real commitment to their local community, particularly supporting vulnerable people.
- They are keen to support volunteer orientated groups, who are used to relying on minimal funds and the goodwill and generosity of members - we know we can make a real impact here.
- They're looking for groups who are enhancing the lives of the neighbourhoods they are running within, as it's important to us to support people making a difference in communities across the UK.
- In reviewing all submissions for funding, they consider which requests in their opinion offer “the greatest chance to progress ideas and activities with a lasting impact.”
- They want their £500 to go as far as possible so are looking for groups with a real vision of how they would spend this money efficiently.
