NI Screen: Access Shorts
Overview
Northern Ireland Screen will select up to three projects to go into production with a budget of up to £10,000 per short film.
Access Shorts is an initiative to find filmmakers exclusively from groups that are underrepresented in the film and television sector:
- Females
- Females and Males 30+
- Disabled applicants
- Black and minority ethnic (BME)
- Gay/Lesbian/Bisexual and Transgender
Applicants must submit two short film ideas which will be developed through a series of development meetings with Northern Ireland Screen’s Script Consultant and Short Film Executive.
The development work will take place between July 2015 and February 2016 with meetings every two months. Participants must make themselves available for every meeting.
At the end of the development period Northern Ireland Screen will select up to three projects to go into production with a budget of up to £10,000 per short film.
Selection
- Up to 6 Northern Ireland resident filmmakers will be selected to participate in the development process.
- Successful applicants will all have a proven track record in short film production with one or more writing or directing credits on previous shorts in the past three years.
- Successful applicants will be from an under represented group or community as detailed above.
Criteria
A filmmaker is eligible to apply if they:
- Are from an under represented group as indicated above.
- Have one or more writing or directing credits on previous shorts in the past three years.
- Are a legal resident of Northern Ireland.
