Overview

The Fund aims to encourage

  • Stronger, more inclusive communities by ensuring that local people have ownership and involvement in the design and delivery of the projects.
  • Partnership working between community, voluntary and statutory agencies, where appropriate, to ensure a coordinated approach and no duplication of effort.
  • Work that develops and builds on existing local initiatives.
  • Programmes of activities that clearly address local issues, needs and opportunities.

Who can apply?

Typically, the funds are available to community and voluntary organisations for projects which are in the vicinity of one of their wind farms.

These include, but are not limited to;

  • Registered Charities
  • Community Development Groups
  • Tidy Town Committees
  • Sports, Recreation and Youth Clubs
  • Primary, and Secondary Schools.

They support projects which focus on the following thematic areas;

  • Sports and Recreation
  • Health and Wellbeing
  • Environment and Conservation
  • Energy Efficiency and Sustainability
  • Culture and Heritage
  • Education
  • Children and Young People
  • Elderly People

Priority will be given to:

  • Projects which address issues related to rural isolation.
  • Projects which provide clear community benefit to people experiencing disadvantage and / or life limiting circumstances.
  • Projects which increase the use of existing community space and sustainable venues.
  • Inter-generational projects.
  • Projects which increase local participation through sports, culture and the arts.

Level of Grants Available

  • It is suggested that groups apply for grants to the value of £2000. The suggested award value is neither a minimum or a maximum, rather an indication of the scale of resources available annually.
