Moyle Sports Advisory Committee
Overview
The Moyle Sports Advisory Committee was established in May 1994. The types of funding available range as follows:
Types of Grant
- Seeding grants are available to new clubs up to the value of £100.
- Organisation, administration and publicity for special major events £100
- Items of equipment £250
- Coaching
- Sports Bursaries £500
Objectives
- To assess the sporting and recreational needs of Moyle and advise on and help with the catering of these needs.
- To examine the need for improving existing facilities and the provision of new facilities.
- To advise upon the take all possible steps to assist the Organisation of personal needs in sport at three levels: (i) Beginners (introductory courses) (ii) Personal performance (coaching centres)(iii) Training of coaches and leaders.
- To disseminate information, especially to newcomers to the area, concerning available sports facilities.
- To assist Moyle District Council and any other authority requiring assistance by advising generally on the collective opinions of local sports interests on future planning for sports facilities.
- To take such steps in consultation and collaboration with the local authority as are appropriate to encourage school leaders and youth to continue to take part in sport.
- To establish, maintain and publish an up to date record of all sporting organisations and facilities.
- To receive and consider reports, comments and recommendations from individuals and organisations on matters concerning sport and recreation and to make representation to appropriate bodies.
- To make recommendation to any regional Committee which might be formed, or to any other appropriate body, on the provision of any major, recreational facilities designed to serve the needs of the region in which the Council operates.
- To publicise sport in all ways.
Affiliation To Committee: All sporting and recreational organisations operating or intending to operate within the Moyle District Council area may apply for affiliation to the Committee subject to the organisation agreeing to abide by any regulations made by the Committee as to membership and subject to the Committee retaining the right to reject any application for affiliation if in the opinion of the Committee there are reasonable grounds for so doing.
Membership of Committee: Membership of the Committee will consist of one elected representative from each affiliated club, organisation, school and individuals residing in or playing for clubs in the District Council area.
