Overview

Who can apply?

  • The Chris Ledger Legacy Awards are for individual D/deaf, Disabled and Neurodiverse artists to support development of professional practice.
  • The specific purpose of the awards is to support creative practitioners to make new work.
  • Artists with any type of impairment or disability, working in any artform.
  • You must be ‘domiciled’ for tax purposes in Northern Ireland. This means you must have lived in Northern Ireland for a continuous period of 12 months prior to making the application.
  • They welcome applications from emerging talent as well as from more established artists. However, The Chris Ledger Legacy Awards is only for people with artistic experience – you will need to supply support material as evidence.

How much can you apply for?

  • Each award is for £5,000.
  • There are four awards available.
  • The panel will award no more or no less than £5,000.
  • The Awards are for you to focus on and develop your creative practice and create new work.

What will they fund?

The award is to support you with developing your creative practice, create new work and you may include one of or more of the options below:

  • Time to concentrate on developing your professional practice and create new work
  • One to one tuition, mentoring and shadowing to help you make new work
  • Travel, accommodation and related subsistence for research or residential purposes
  • Personal assistance to support you in carrying out the arts project / creative activities outlined in your proposal.
  • Disability/deaf access requirements that are linked to artistic activity
  • Professional fees to document your work and improve the quality of your promotional material
  • Studio or workshop rent /hire fees
  • Materials you will need to produce your work
  • Proofing or other professional input that will improve the quality of your work.
