Lisburn Culture and Identity Grants
Overview
This grants programme aims to assist constituted groups working within the Lisburn City Council area in the field of culture and identity.
A special focus of this year’s programme may be the marking of the centenary of historical events in 1912 and the beginning in that year of a decade of events that have shaped identities in Northern Ireland.
The Scheme offers grant aid to groups engaged in cultural and identity programmes who meet the following objectives:
- To support projects and programme opportunities devised by groups in the field of culture and identity that educates and increases knowledge, enjoyment, respect and understanding of traditions thereby improving the quality of life for the people involved and for the City of Lisburn.
- To develop opportunities for groups to explore culture and identity thus increasing their capacity to develop relationships of trust and respect for all traditions and values.
- To enable groups to challenge stereotypes of their own and other communities in order to acknowledge and address difference.
- To increase the ability and confidence of groups and organisations to
- identify and address issues of culture and identity.
- To contribute to the development of a meaningful partnership with the community sector across the Lisburn City Council area.
- To encourage the development of cultural identity activity led action at both the neighbourhood and city-wide levels.
Through the scheme, to contribute to the Council’s Good Relations Policy.
The Council will make a maximum grant of up to 75% funding available towards costs incurred in respect of any one project which meets the criteria relating to the scheme.
The group concerned would be required to fund the remaining 25%. The maximum grant available to any group per financial year is not expected to exceed £1,500.
Significant food and refreshment costs must be demonstrated as relevant to the objectives of the Grant Scheme and would be expected to have income raised against them through ticket sales and/or admission charges.
