Overview

Grant giving policy has two main strands:

  • National programmes – selected to target substantial resources to issues that are often overlooked and where we can have the biggest impact.
  • Employee and financial adviser involvement – developing partnerships and making local grants.

    • Phillippine Community

There are smaller local grant budgets available from some of the larger offices, and grants available will typically be in the range of £100-£1,000. Locations are Birmingham, Bristol, Cardiff, Glasgow, Leeds, London, Manchester and Sutton.

Zurich research their own programmes, identifying potential partners and areas of work for a medium-term commitment, typically five years. This grants are generally in Hampshire, Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.

Many grant giving decisions are also made by Zurich employees and members of the Openwork Foundation. Both groups raise substantial amounts of money for good causes each year.

They encourage their people to decide where the money they raise should go by entering into partnerships and through local charity committees. They give over £500,000 to local communities every year in this way.

2008

Around £63 million has been donated to a variety of good causes since 1972, with around £500,000 raised by our employees each year. During 2008 a total of £1,608,488 was committed mainly through partnerships and local grants, but also includes the matching from fundraising to enable 184 team Challenges with charities to take place.

It seems that the Zurich Trst no longer includes Belfast as one of its fundable regions.
