Overview

Dr TBF Thompson was a well-known Northern Ireland businessman and committed Christian who founded the TBF Thompson Charitable Trust a number of years ago. The TBF Thompson Group is involved in the automotive and plant industries throughout the island of Ireland.

Thomas Bacon French Thompson was born above his parents' grocery shop in 1915. He died in 2009 at the age of 92. The 93-year-old was well known for his Christian ministry and charitable donations and was a senior elder at First Garvagh Presbyterian Church.

The Trust's focus is on the following areas -

  • Religious
  • Relief of Poverty
  • Community
  • Medical
  • Arts/Education

The Trust has a preference in supporting Christian organisations seeking to bring relief to poor and needy communities such as:

1. Those providing food, shelter, medical care and education in the case of an emergency appeal.

2. Those working overseas delivering Sports and/or Manual skills programmes encouraging the development of young people in deprived communities.

3. Those supporting Mission Hospitals and Medical programmes overseas in order to deliver improved health and reduce disease.

The Charitable Trust is not thought to accept unsolicited applications and funds areas closely known to the Trustees.

This scheme has been added not to highlight a funding opportunity on this occasion but to inform of the existence of the trust and its general policy.
