Overview
The Arts /Cultural Programme support these main aims:
- To integrate the Arts/Culture into the educational, social, and economic life of the District and use the Arts as a positive mechanism for change.
- To increase access to, participation in and enjoyment of the Arts/Cultural programme whether as audiences or artist.
- To increase an awareness of the importance of Culture in enriching community life and bring about a deeper understanding and recognition of historical identity, taking into account historical traditions of the area.
- To enhance the quality of Arts/Cultural provision.
The grant aid available will be allocated on the basis of priority areas including: language, local history, literature, music and dance.
Eligible groups can apply for a range of grants from £500 - £2,000.
They award up to 75% of eligible costs up to a maximum of £2000.
Who can apply?
Grants are payable to non-profit making, non-statutory organisations and groups that meet one or more of the above aims and meet the eligibility criteria.
- A constituted group - accountable to local people through its constitution, membership, committee elections, accounting procedures and annual general meetings
- Based within the Strabane District Council Area
- Open to a full range of local opinion
- Inclusive and non party-political and promote equal opportunities & good relations
- Responsive to community needs which are not being dealt with fully by other groups in the same neighbourhood or area.
- Child Safe - having in place a child protection policy & designated child protection officer [applicable from April 2007]
