Southern Drugs and Alcohol Co-ordination Team
Overview
New Strategic Direction: Funding is available to enable SDACT to implement its action plan. This funding is awarded by competitive tender. Full details of the opportunities available can be found on the Regional Supplies Services website.
Key Priorities are:
- Development and maintenance of 4-Tier Integrated Strategy to ensure provision of an accessible range of services.
- Ensure provision of an accessible range of alcohol and drugs services for adults and young people across the Southern area
- Maintenance and consolidation of an area wide fully integrated and accessible range of young people's services involving all key partners and providers
- Facilitate ongoing and agreed actions to support and sustain the delivery of a cohesive area-wide response to underage drinking.
- Development of a cohesive area-wide response to target binge drinking.
- Provision of holistic treatment and support service to address the needs of families affected by substance misuse.
- Development and promotion of area-wide programme to counter the problems raised by persistent anti-social behaviour linked to drugs and alcohol misuse.
- Co-ordinated programme of activities, skills and training support to address the needs of BME/ Migrant Worker groupings across the area. Development and maintenance of an accredited area wide training and education programme.
Small Grants: Applicants are invited from statutory, voluntary and community organisations which require funding to facilitate the delivery of initiatives in their area. Applicants should ensure that their application form is formally sponsored and signed by their local member of the SDACT

How to Apply
New Strategic Directions Funding towards implementing the New Strategic Direction is by competitive tender. Opportunities are advertised on the www.csarss.net website.
Small Grants Application Forms and deadlines can be obtained from the contcat. They tend of open on an annual basis.
The PHA will only consider applications from statutory organisations if they are in partnership with voluntary or community organisations. Proposals must:
- Demonstrate local community involvement;
- Address outcomes locally as identified within the respective DACT Action Plans 2009/11 and/or regional "Addressing Young People's Drinking in Northern Ireland Action Plan"
The PHA would in addition welcome proposals that;
- Target the top 25% most disadvantaged ward areas in each of the DACT areas;
Proposals are up to a maximum value of £5,000 (Minimum amount £500) Further information, application forms and guidance notes which advise those wishing to apply for funding of the relevant criteria and conditions are available from the relevant PHA/DACT office below.
