Overview

The investment programme seeks to employ a network of Active Clubs Coordinators to work with identified sports clubs in order to assist them with developing new and innovative interventions aimed at increasing their club membership. Post holders will also be responsible for creating the potential for the realisation of a range of opportunities for training, learning, education and capacity building for coaches and volunteers.

Who Can Apply?

To be considered eligible to apply under the Active Clubs Programme applicant organisations must be:

  • A Sport Northern Ireland recognised Governing Body of Sport
  • An Umbrella Sports Organisation

Sport Northern Ireland will accept ‘single’ and ‘partnership’ applications to the Active Clubs Programme, further details of which are set out in Section 4 of the Information and Guidance Notes.

What are the Programme Priorities?

The specific objectives of the Active Clubs Programme are as follows:

  • Create and support a network of Active Clubs Coordinators to promote, support and coordinate lifelong participation in sport and physical recreation within sports clubs.
  • Increase sports club membership in the most deprived areas of Northern Ireland.
  • Increase sports club membership within identified sports clubs, especially among underrepresented groups including women and girls.
  • Increase sports club membership within sports clubs, particularly among the 14-25 years age group.
  • Create, support and coordinate a range of coaching and volunteer opportunities within sports clubs.

Funding Limits

Sport Northern Ireland does not anticipate that any award for a single Full-Time Equivalent (FTE) Post and associated programme costs will exceed £50k.
