Samuel Rubin Foundation
Overview
The Foundation's general purpose is to carry on the vision of its founder, Samuel Rubin, whose life was dedicated to the pursuit of peace and justice and the search for an equitable reallocation of the world's resources. The Foundation believes that these objectives can be achieved only through the fullest implementation of social, economic, political, civil and cultural rights for all the world’s people.
- They accept applications at any time for general operating expenses or for specific projects.
- There are no geographic limitations, however organisations based outside the United States, must be classified by the IRS as tax-exempt or have a U.S.-based tax-exempt fiscal sponsor
- The majority of the Foundation’s grants are in the $5,000-$10,000 range.
- The Foundation typically does not award more than one grant per fiscal year per organization.
- The Foundation has limited discretionary funds for smaller ‘emergency’ grants between Board meetings. They encourage you, however, to observe the regular application deadlines unless an ’emergency’ grant is absolutely necessary.
Please keep in mind that they are a small foundation and receive hundreds of worthy applications every year. Unfortunately, the problems are much larger than their budget and they can only fund a small percentage of applications each grant cycle.
Please review their mission statement and list of recent grantees to assess whether or not your organisation or project might be a good fit for the Foundation’s purpose and interests.
