Overview
The Society operates a Community Awards Scheme. Local charities and community groups can submit an application to the independent panel. The panel meet twice yearly (usually June and December) and allocate awards from £200 to £2,000. Budget varies but generally £10,000 p.a. The progressive appears keen to involve and support its own staff and members in their fundraising activities.
Progressive Community Award Scheme Rules
- Applications for Community Awards must be made using the Society’s application form which must bear the nomination of a current Member of the Society
- Application forms will be distributed evenly throughout the Society’s Branch network and issued on a “first come first served” basis
- Only non-profit organisations working for the benefit of communities within Northern Ireland may be nominated for an award
- A Community Award Scheme Panel, working independently of the Society, will assess applications and allocate awards ranging from £200 to £2000
- Awards will be made to projects that, in the opinion of the Panel, bring most benefit to local communities
- No awards will be made that, in the opinion of the Panel, may take the place of statutory funding
- No awards will be made for the benefit of individuals
- Subject to sufficient applications being received, awards will be distributed evenly to reflect the Society’s Branch network coverage
- The final decision concerning an application for an award lies with the Panel and the Society cannot enter into any correspondence
- Recipients of awards may be asked to participate in reasonable promotional activities.
