Princes Trust Community Cash Grants
Overview
The Princes Trust gives practical and financial support to the young people who need it most. They help develop key skills, confidence and motivation, enabling young people to move into work, education or training.
The Community Cash Grants scheme offers cash awards up to £2,000 for young people to design and set up projects on a voluntary basis that will benefit their local community
Eligible projects must:
- be run and managed by young people
- deal with a local community need, with clear benefit to that community
- benefit the young people running the project
- be new or developing initiatives
Participants can receive:
- A Prince's Trust staff member or volunteer to support them in setting goals, making decisions and evaluating their project.
- Access to specialist advice for their project
Applicants must be UK residents aged 14 - 25 who:
Are part of The Trust's four target groups:
- Unemployed young people
- Young people underachieving in education
- Young people leaving care
- Young offenders and ex-offenders
Recent evaluations of the programme found that:
- 75% of award recipients are now in employment, education or training.
- 87% of award recipients have developed new skills through running their community project.
- 95% of award recipients felt they had achieved their goals
Example Grants
Over 9,000 young people have received a Community Cash Award to date.
Past awards have included funding for start up youth cafes, asylum seekers improving perceptions in the community through photographic exhibitions, community radio stations, organic gardens kept for and by young people with mental health problems, DVD's to raise awareness of crack dealing.
How to Apply
The community cash grants are closed for the foreseeable future and very unlikely to reopen soon if they reopen at all.
