Nike: Make Moves Fund

Archived Black and minority ethnic Communities Sport and physical recreation Young people (13-25) Great Britain Northern Ireland Medium (up to £60,000)

Overview

The Make Moves Fund will provide £20,000 grants to UK-based creative community organisations for innovative programmes that use music and movement to encourage the least active girls to exercise in ways they enjoy.

The fund aims to improve the overall mental wellbeing, self-esteem and confidence of girls aged 10 to 17, particularly those from disadvantaged and Ethnic Minority backgrounds.

To be eligible, organisations must:

  • Be either a UK-registered Charity or Community Interest Company.
  • Have an annual income of no less than £40,000. This is to ensure that charities aren’t financially dependent on the grant to continue operating.
  • Be able to report demonstrable impact and progress at the end of the six month grant period.

Although they welcome applications from organisations delivering new or innovative projects outside of the scope of their day-to-day programming, to be considered applicants must have a proven track record of at least one of the following areas:

  • Working with girls aged 10-17.
  • Delivering programmes to encourage people to be more active.
  • Working with young people to improve their mental wellbeing.

To be considered, proposals should meet the following criteria:

  • Your proposal reaches girls from diverse backgrounds, aged anywhere between 10-17 (inclusive). They welcome inclusive proposals reaching anyone who identifies as a girl.
  • Your proposal leverages the power of music to engage the least active girls in regular movement. ‘Least active’ is defined as girls who do not met the Chief Medical Officer guidelines of taking part in sport and physical activity for an average of 60 minutes or more a day.
  • Your proposal is creative, innovative, and scalable by design.
  • Your proposal is rooted in improving the confidence and mental wellbeing of girls.
  • Your proposal is co-created with input from the girls you work with.
  • Your programme will run for at least 4 months and be delivered between 1st March and 31st August 2024.

Your programme will run regularly and will be delivered in the UK.
