Arts & Culture Grants – Individual Application – Conditions and Criteria

Grants to individuals: -

The council will consider applications for grant aid from individuals to assist in their personal development, as long as they meet the stated criteria and objectives of their Arts Policy.

Who can apply?

  1. Individuals who demonstrate excellence in their chosen art form, supported by independent accredited evidence.
  2. We will consider approved short training and study courses, if they will develop individual expertise or promote the arts within the community. You must demonstrate how this training or course will benefit either your personal development or the community.
  3. Individuals who organise non-profit-making courses or classes which will extend or develop the arts within the community

Note: You may have to attend a short formal interview.

INDIVIDUAL CATEGORIES & CEILINGS

Category Explanation

  • Excellence - Individuals who can demonstrate excellence in their chosen art form, supported by independent accredited evidence - Max £500
  • Short training and study courses To develop individual expertise or promote arts within the community. You must demonstrate how this training or course will benefit either your personal development or the community - Max £500
  • Non-profit making courses Individuals who organise non-profit making courses or classes which will extend or develop arts within the community – Max £750

Arts & Culture Grants – Group Application – Conditions and Criteria

Grants to groups: -

The Council will consider applications for grant aid from voluntary arts groups which are based in the Borough and which promote, develop and encourage greater involvement for everyone in the arts.

Who can apply?

  1. New arts groups may apply for a seeding grant, up to a maximum of £200, to help with their initial expenses. Such groups must be properly constituted and have their own bank account for this purpose only.
  2. Groups who are organising non-profit-making courses or classes which will extend or develop the arts within the community.
  3. Major events or festivals organised within the Borough which are open to the general public.
  4. Special projects or initiatives which develop the arts locally or make the arts more accessible and demonstrate equal opportunity to all sections of the community. Your group’s application must demonstrate sufficient experience and expertise to carry out the project by submitting detailed plans of how the project will run, stating the time scale and projected expenditure.
  5. They will not allocate grant aid to charities or commercial ventures
