Belfast Music Heritage Programme - Belfast 2024/Belfast City of Music
Overview
Overview
Belfast City Council is seeking to support a development music programme, with participation and people-led design at its heart, which explores contemporary expressions of traditional music across the city. This will combine the priorities of the Cultural Strategy and ambitions to showcase our UNESCO City of Music designation, by delivering a programme that has a deep engagement element with communities, and opportunities to showcase the outcomes of this programme as part of Belfast 2024.
Who
They are inviting applications from community and cultural organisations across the city, with experience in delivering music-led programmes, working in various cultural backgrounds, to develop exciting initiatives which explore contemporary expressions of traditional music with local musicians and communities.
What
Each project will have a strong engagement element, exploring what traditional music means to individuals, families, communities and generations in their cultural and personal lives with a view to developing a music showcase programme for 2024.
Proposals will focus on engagement with local musicians, citizens and communities in a developmental process that will lead to a showcase of contemporary traditional music as part of Belfast 2024. See also their Music Strategy.
Funding Levels
Applications are invited from groups identifying with all cultural backgrounds for grants up to £20,000 each for developmental activities to take place between February 2024 and September 2024.
Total value of this programme is approximately £80,000.
