Community Summer Schemes Criteria
Community Summer Schemes projects must complement the programme aims and objectives as outlined below.
The Council will only consider one application per organisation for the Community Summer Schemes programme or Community Events and Festivals programme.
An applicant which applies to both themes is at risk of having both applications withdrawn.
Programme – Community Summer Schemes
Threshold: £500 - £1,000
Latest project end date: All project activity MUST be completed no later than 31st August 2025.
Please note: Claims must be submitted within six-weeks of the chosen project end date or the letter of offer will automatically be withdrawn, and the funds redistributed.
Aim & Objectives
The primary purpose of this is to assist constituted Community Associations in the delivery of summer schemes.
*A Community Association is established to promote for the benefit of the inhabitants’ area and its immediate environs without distinction of age, sex, race, political or other opinions, by associating with statutory authorities, voluntary organisations, institutions, business and inhabitants in a common effort to advance education and to provide facilities in the interests of social welfare, health, recreation and leisure activities, with the objective of improving conditions of life for the inhabitants.
- The purpose of this grant is to assist constituted community associations* who run summer schemes for young people over the summer period (July and August 2025). Schemes should run for a minimum of five full days (5hrs per day) or ten half days (2.5hrs per day).
Eligible Costs
- Transportation
- External activity provider for activities related to the programmes
- Small equipment items for use in scheme e.g. arts and crafts materials / games
- Promotional material (max 10% of total budget)
- One-off event insurance linked to the project is eligible or, if applicable, part payment of annual insurance. Please note the part payment should be proportionate to the activity taking place (and must be pre-agreed with the Programmes Unit prior to claiming).
