Overview

The Department for Social Development (DSD) is committed to continuing the regeneration of the “Laganside Designated Area”.

The “Laganside Local Community” comprises of the residents and the public, private, voluntary and community sectors, based in the 14 wards adjacent to and within the Laganside Designated Area. The wards are from North (New Lodge & Duncairn), South (Shaftesbury, Botanic, Stranmillis, Ballynafeigh, & Rosetta) East (Island, Ballymacarett, The Mount, Woodstock & Ravenhill) and West (Falls & Shankill).

DSD strives to continue the development of the Laganside designated area with a strong commitment to the principles of equality, human rights, cultural diversity, targeting social need (TSN) and partnership, thus creating an environment in which the Laganside Local Community can have a better quality of life and realise its full potential.

LAGANSIDE COMMUNITY ACTIVITY GRANT

The Laganside Community Activity Grant has a limited annual budget allocation. There is a limit of two applications for different activities per annum per applicant. Another grant scheme currently being operated by DSD that may be more relevant to your community activity is the ‘Laganside Events Grant’. Please contact DSD’s Laganside Team if you would like to discuss your community activity, in relation to the Laganside Events Grant, prior to completing an application form.

OBJECTIVE: To support community activities (arts, sports, educational, cultural and environmental) directly relating to the Laganside Area that address the needs of and provide benefit to the Laganside Local Community and continue to bring Laganside to life.

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA - the maximum amount available under the Activity Grant is £300.00

To be eligible for consideration ALL applicants proposals must show that their community activity:

  • Is from an applicant based within the Laganside Local Community.
  • Benefits the local community directly affected by the regeneration process in the Laganside Designated Area.
  • Takes place within the Laganside Designated Area.
  • Attracts people to the Laganside area.

NOTES TO APPLICANTS

  1. The application must be received at least 10 working days prior to the activity date
  2. All DSD supported community activities must be satisfactorily completed and all claims processed by 31 March 2012.
  3. All sections of the application form must be completed (if a question is not relevant please mark it ‘not applicable’).
  4. DSD will not fund applicants who have not satisfactorily complied with the terms and conditions of a previous Laganside grant.
  5. Grants will be paid in arrears on receipt of original receipted invoices, as agreed in the letter of offer.
