Introduction
Hubbub Foundation UK has created and is managing the ‘#InTheLoop’ grant fund to support high quality projects that will introduce or improve recycling ‘out-of-home’. The fund has been made possible through funding from McDonald’s.
Organisations will be selected from the pool of applicants and will be offered funding for their project for a period of one year. The successful grant recipients (“Grantees”) will be required to report back on the impact of their project so the impact of the fund can be evaluated.
Applicant Eligibility
The grant is open to any organisation that can prove they are an officially constituted body, registered in the UK. They anticipate that the majority of applications will be from local authorities, shopping centres, waste and recycling companies, major property owners and transport hubs.
- Local authorities
- Business Improvement Districts
- Major property owners or those who manage public space
- Transport hubs e.g. airports, train stations
They expect some applications will be from companies limited by shares or guarantee, charities, and social enterprises. You’ll need to be registered with the appropriate body in the UK and to include your registration number. They can’t accept applications from organisations who intend to register but have not yet done so.
They understand councils do not have registration numbers. If you are from a local authority you can skip this step.
Applicants must prove they are an officially constituted body in the UK by providing their UK company registration number. Organisations with a turnover of less than £100,000 must submit either their audited accounts or their Management Accounts for the previous twelve months.
The grant level is £8,000 per project.
The funding will be provided as a grant so is inclusive of VAT. The Organisers reserve the right to offer grants of a lower or higher value depending on the merit of the Applicant and funds available.
The Fund
The Fund will support projects for a period of 9 months.
It’s expected that most of the funding (80%) will go towards to the purchase of infrastructure such as new bins or improvements to old bins (new vinyls, apertures etc.).
It is fine for the grant money to be spent on salaries if the person is working to deliver the agreed grant funded project.
Operational costs refer to business-as-usual costs, such as overheads or rent of premises and these are not eligible for funding.
2 months from the start of the fund allocation, 5 months and at the conclusion of the Fund period , Grantees will be required to report back to the Organisers. Details of the timings and requirements for the reporting will be provided to Grantees as part of the Offer Letter.
80% of the agreed funding will be paid out to Grantees on receipt of the signed Offer Letter. A further 10% will be paid on receipt of the six-month report and the final 10% will be paid on receipt of the final year-end report.
