Fermanagh and Omagh District Council: Significant Sporting Achievement
Overview
Teams can avail of Significant Sporting Achievement funding to assist with:
- Final / Tournament / Competition / Event Entry Fee
- Final / Tournament / Competition / Event Travel Costs
- Final / Tournament / Competition / Event Accommodation Costs
A maximum Significant Sporting Achievement funding amount of £500.00 per team is available within any financial year. Applications must be received prior to the final / tournament / competition / event taking place. Applications cannot be made retrospectively. Applications will be received on an ongoing basis. Assessments of applications may not be until after the final / tournament / competition / event takes place, however, the application form must be received by the Council before the event takes place. Submission of a Significant Sporting Achievement funding application is not a guarantee of financial assistance. Funding is on a deficit basis and subject to budget availability. Applicants should retain evidence of all expenditure incurred. Applicants are asked to complete their application form through this portal only. Only authorised representatives of the organisation may apply. Correspondence regarding applications will be generated electronically to the registered user that completes the application.
Eligibility
Team Applicants must:
- Reside in the Fermanagh and Omagh District Council area or represent the District through participation.
- Be involved in an amateur capacity.
- Have attained a significant sporting achievement e.g. competing in a National, European or International Final / Tournament / Competition / Event following a performance based selection or qualification process, which is the highest level within their sport.
- Enter only one competition / event per application.
- Provide a signed letter from a National Governing Body of Sport (NGB), confirming the team are competing in a National, European or International Final / Tournament / Competition / Event following a performance based selection or qualification process, which is the highest level within their sport.
- NGB must be recognised by a Sports Council e.g., Sport NI, Sport Ireland, UK/GB; or the NGB is affiliated to a NGB recognised by a Sports Council. This letter must be submitted with the Sports Bursary application.
- Check and confirm that the NGB is recognised by a Sports Council e.g., Sport NI, Sport Ireland, UK/GB; or the NGB is affiliated to a NGB recognised by a Sports Council.
- If required, provide evidence that the NGB is affiliated to a NGB recognised by a Sports Council. This must be a signed letter from the NGB that the NGB is affiliated to.
Conditions and Administrative arrangements:
- All applications will be considered on an individual basis against the eligibility criteria by a relevant Director or Head of Service and reported to the Council’s Grant Aid Award Panel and Regeneration and Community Meeting.
- Applications will only be assessed if all the necessary information has been provided.
- Fermanagh and Omagh District Council may defer applications if further information is required or if the application form and supporting evidence is not completed properly.
- Submission of an application does not necessarily mean that financial assistance will be granted.
- Any award of funding is subject to budget availability.
- The financial assistance is offered on a deficit basis and an income / expenditure report must be submitted with a claim.
