Cinema For All: Community Cinemas Bursaries

Overview

Launch

£300 bursary and coaching support for your team.

As part of Launch, you will receive:

  • A welcome session – where you will meet your Cinema For All coach and discuss your goals for your cinema. (Up to 30 mins)
  • Starting Up workshop – this gives you all the information you need to start screening films as well as chance to start forming your ideas for your cinema and ask any questions. (90 mins)
  • One workshop of your choice from our menu (venue and equipment, special events, film programming or fundraising). (90 mins)
  • A group online Launch cohort marketing workshop – this will be an opportunity to meet your fellow Launch cohort and share your experience as well as learn tips and tools for marketing your brand new cinema and screenings. This will take place towards the end of October and there will be two dates to choose from. (90 mins)
  • A reflection session – to check back on your goals that you set at the beginning of the programme and reflect on how far you’ve come. (up to 30 mins)
  • A £300 bursary to put on your first screening.

Platform

As part of Platform you will receive:

  • £1000 bursary to make your project a reality.
  • 3x online coaching consultation sessions with the Cinema For All team to help you; project plan, have a midpoint check in and to reflect on your project after completion.

Previous projects have included:

  • Partnering with another organisation to create a special event or reach a new audience.
  • Making a booklet charting the history of a community cinema.
  • Running a food and film festival.
  • Creating a young programmers group

Glow

Glow will help you build on the knowledge and experience you have already gained with three focused online coaching sessions with the friendly Cinema For All team and a £200 bursary to boost you in the direction you are going in next.

One of the three focused coaching sessions will be on the topic of fundraising and will be held with your fellow Glow cohort, to help share tips and learning. You can choose from the following menu for the two remaining coaching sessions:

  • Developing your marketing – building a strategy that suits you, strengthening your message and marketing planning.
  • Curating your film programme – audience research, honing your vision and opportunities.
  • More Accessible – ideas and information on accessibility of screenings and spaces to welcome more audiences.
  • Organisational strength – looking after and building on the longevity of your cinema on the inner aspect e.g. volunteers, venue and evaluation.
  • Outdoor screenings – tips and advice on running an outdoor screening.
  • Reaching out to your wider your community – advice and planning to support you on your outreach project.
  • Special events – tips, advice and ideas on creating memorable screenings with additional activity.
  • Venue and equipment – refresh your skills or train a team member in screening equipment, how it works and making your screenings cinematic.
