Overview

If you are part of a choir made up of 8 or more individual singers who meet and rehearse towards a live performance, you may be eligible to apply for funding. The grant can be used for commissioning new music, training and development, masterclasses, workshops and projects to attract new members

Criteria

A choir must be a group of 8 or more individual singers who meet and rehearse towards a live performance. This should be taken to include vocal groups as well. They will consider applications from:

  • Adult choirs of any genre
  • Children’s’ choirs but NOT school choirs primarily funded by the LEA
  • Choirs which are private and independently constituted
  • Choirs which perform any genre of music

Choirs can be accompanied or a cappella, and must hold performances that are open to the public.

A choir must have been in existence since at least 1st April 2008 and must have a set of rules or a constitution in place and be not for profit.

The total amount available for the Fund is £200,000 and split into two pots:

  • Commissioning. For projects involving a commission the minimum is £1000, and the maximum is £5,000.
  • Non-commissioning projects. Minimum is £500, maximum is £4000.
