Overview

Making a Difference Locally (MADL), the charity of Co-op Wholesale, has teamed up with Maltesers UK (Mars) to launch a £10,000 community fund aimed at supporting women across the UK.

The initiative will provide 20 donations of up to £500 to local causes that empower and uplift women aged 18 and over. From grassroots sports teams and menopause cafés to mental health projects and domestic abuse support groups, a wide range of organisations will be eligible.

How it works

Customers are invited to nominate deserving causes at participating Co-op Wholesale partnered stores, giving them a chance to receive much-needed funding to continue their important work.

Customers wishing to nominate find their local NISA store or participating Co-op Wholesale to nominate their chosen cause through the store.

(In Northern Ireland, Nisa retailers include Costcutter, Nisa Local, and Russells Food & Drink).

MADL administration will ensure that requested donations fit a set criteria and will then pass all requests to the Board of Trustees for their final approval.

The criteria that is used when considering whether to approve a donation request is set out below.

The charity’s mission is to invest in building stronger local communities. To ensure that you are truly Making a Difference Locally and to comply with the rules set by the charity’s independent Board of Trustees, your requested donation must:

  • Be local to your store (ideally within 10 miles)
  • Be a registered charity OR good cause with a dedicated business bank account (we cannot pay to individuals)
  • The registered charity or good cause must be transparent and accountable – this means that it must be able to confirm what any donation would be used for on request.
