Overview
The 3M community programme is not about reacting to general requests for cash donations - it is a proactive programme focused on those areas where they believe their contribution can make a real difference.
Different communities have different needs, so each of their UK locations has some limited funding available so they can direct support to the areas of greatest need.
Community:
- Prepare youth for success through early childhood and out-of-school-time learning
- Enhance community vibrancy by improving the local communities where 3M has a presence
- Aid disaster preparedness, relief, and recovery
- Encourage and recognize volunteers
Education:
- Increase primary and secondary student achievement in STEM and business curriculum
- Support post-secondary programs that attract, retain and graduate students
-
Drive access and academic success to ensure educational equity
Environment:
- Protect the Earth’s ecosystems through biodiversity and climate change programs
- Promote science-based environmental and conservation education
In order to be considered for support, projects must fall within one or both of these topic areas and relate to a community in which 3M has a site presence.
Proposals must also fulfil one or more of the criteria:
- be a registered UK charitable concern
- address a specific identified local community need
- involve 3M volunteers
- on completion, be able to demonstrate measurable results.
