Standing Together Against Violence: Supporting Northern Ireland's Communities

NICVA rejects and condemns the actions of those involved in the recent wave of violence in our communities. As well as voicing our unwavering support, we want to provide and signpost to whatever practical support we can.

There are links below to range of information and support. If there are other resources or information you think would be helpful for us to share, please let us know.

Supporting your workforce

  • The Labour Relations Agency (LRA) have developed a short webinar for employers who may have employees affected by racism on our streets. Watch the webinar here.  
  • CIPD offers guidance on supporting your workforce through a crisis.  
  • Inspire Community Wellbeing hub now has a section dedicated to the topic of racism and mental health, which can be accessed here.  
  • Bupa have a space dedicated to tools for your mental wellbeing which can be accessed here.

Tackling misinformation

Rumours and false information are not new, but it is important to then empower people with the correct most up to date information.  

  • Law Centre NI have updated their briefing which outlines statistics around people coming to Northern Ireland seeking sanctuary. View the briefing here.  
  • Along with posting regular fact checks here, Fact Check NI have a Fact Check Toolkit to encourage everyone to engage in critical thinking. They also offer bespoke training sessions for groups and organisations. Training - FactCheckNI

Support for newcomers to Northern Ireland

  • Law Centre NI have a Refugee Transition guide to support for people who have recently received Refugee Status, Humanitarian Protection, or Discretionary Leave to Remain.  
  • The NI Youth Forum have developed a support information resource for refugees, asylum seekers and members of our newcomer community which can be accessed here.  
  • Belfast City of Sanctuary aims to promote and build a culture of welcome and hospitality for people seeking sanctuary and a home in Belfast.
