***Swire Charitable Trust
Overview
At the Trustees' meeting, the trustees agree the strategy of the trust, including consideration of donation making, investments, reserves and risk management policies. The day to day administration of the charity is carried out by John Swire & Sons Limited.
Although the Trustees make some grants with no formal applications, they normally require organisations to submit a request saying how the funds could be used and what would be achieved. The objective of the Trust is to provide donations and grants to charities in the United Kingdom and elsewhere.
The Swire Charitable Trust has no guidelines and each application is based on its merits. The Majority of grants appear to range from £1,000 to £5,000 although a few are granted above this level.
The majority are for low thousands. General themes appear to be Health care charities, children, armed forces, sensory disability and other general purposes.
