Strabane Good Relations Grants
Overview
Good Relations projects:
- Ensure everyone enjoys equality of opportunity and equal treatment (equity).
- Encourage mutual understanding and respect for different cultures and traditions (diversity).
- Increase cross community contact and co-operation (interdependence).
Your project should address one or more of these priorities:
- Children and Young People
- Shared Community
- Safe Community
- Cultural Expression
You must be a fully constituted (not for profit, open and accountable) group or company limited by guarantee based within the Strabane District Council area.
Eligible groups can apply for grant aid of 75% of the group’s eligible costs up to a maximum of £5000. The level of grant awarded will be adjusted accordingly if the project has generated an income. A 25% contribution is required and must be evidenced before any payments are made. Any amount awarded will depend on this contribution even if the overall spend is less than anticipated.
The Good Relations Programme supports two categories of Project:
Hard Issues
The Good Relations Dept. will accept applications from groups who wish to tackle Hard Issues in their area to assist in raising the groups’ confidence to challenge stereotypes and address issues of difference and prejudice between them. Support will be given to projects which prepare groups to deal with these issues by increasing the confidence of a group to involve itself in joint programme development with those from diverse backgrounds.
There are three main categories included in Hard Issues grant aid: Race, Religion and Politics.
Cultural
The Good Relations Cultural Grant Aid Programme aims to provide opportunities to explore, learn from and develop respect for others’ cultures. It seeks to promote differences in traditions, beliefs and nationalities in a positive light. This can include exploring one’s own culture, other cultures or both.
