Overview
The Sigrid Rausing Trust is a grant-making foundation established in 1995.
The Trust's grant-making is organised into three main programmes:
1. Human Rights and the Rule of Law.
2. Open Societies
3. The Environment.
In addition, their Chair’s Fund and Trustee Small Grants programme support the Trust’s wider philanthropic remit.
Human Rights and the Rule of Law
Programme Priorities:
- Justice and accountability for international crimes
- Torture prevention and rehabilitation for victims of torture
- Criminal justice and conditions in detention
- Memorialization and reparation for victims of human rights abuses
Open Societies
Programme Priorities:
- Freedom of expression and public interest media
- Freedom of association and civic participation
- Corruption and undue influence
- The Arts
Environment
Programme Priorities:
- The regulation and reduction of harmful chemicals and pollution
- Regulating harmful impacts of business and development projects
- Protecting biodiversity
Where they work
The Trust is active in a number of regions. It has a particular interest in Central and Eastern Europe and Eurasia, North Africa and South Africa.
