Overview

Invitations are now open as of 17 March 2025 for the next round of the Shoosmiths Foundation funding. 

They are inviting applications for projects in the UK that advance access to justice, for which the Foundation will distribute grants of between £25,000 and £50,000 to the successful applicants.

On this occasion the Shoosmiths Foundation welcomes applications from charities that work in any of the following areas in regard to increasing access to justice:

  • sustaining or improving community access to specialist legal advice
  • leveraging organisation’s and/or educational institutions pro bono programmes to increase access to justice.

They encourage applications from all sizes of UK registered charity, especially smaller charities.

Only UK registered charities are eligible to apply when an application window is open. Unsolicited applications are not accepted. They will announce on this page when the next application round is live and which of their funding priorities they will be next focusing on.

Eligible expenditure

The Shoosmiths Foundation offers grants in the following categories to:

  • advance social mobility in the legal sector, and across the UK, in line with the Shoosmiths social mobility action plan. Particular focus on charitable organisations which share their belief that ‘talent can come from anywhere’, and which align their interventions with local socio-economic analysis and need;
  • advance a carbon net zero UK; and
  • advance access to justice in the UK.
