Overview

Voucher collection

The Sainsbury’s Active Kids voucher collection scheme, now in its thirteenth year, kicks off every year in January. Customers collect vouchers when shopping and donate them to their local school or club, which can exchange them for equipment and experiences.

So far the scheme has invested £185 million and recruited ambassadors from the world of health and fitness such as footballer Daniel Sturridge and Paralympian Jonnie Peacock to promote a healthier way of life.

Charity of the Year

Every year they work together with their customers and colleagues to support a local cause at the heart of the local community. These are holistic partnerships that last for the whole year and include a range of support such as awareness-raising and fundraising in store, volunteering and donations.

How does it work?

  1. Charity nominations

Representatives from charities can pop in store, fill in a form and nominate their group to be the store's Local Charity of the Year partner.

  1. Store shortlisting

Store colleagues will shortlist the applications and decide on a final three to take through to the voting.

  1. Public vote

Each store will announce their three shortlisted charities for you to vote for, both in store and online through the site.

  1. The winning charity

Once votes have been counted their stores will get in touch with the winning charity.
