Overview

They are very grateful to Barclays for their support which has enabled this grant round.

This is a very specific fund, with the aim of supporting farming and rural communities to cope with the impact of Covid-19, to expand on new services that have emerged to support the local community during this time and to build future resilience.

How Much?

You should apply for as much as you need to complete your project, to a maximum of £10,000.

For What?

They are looking for applications for projects in economically deprived rural areas which will deliver vital community services to those areas.

Projects should build on the community’s responses to the Covid-19 pandemic and must show how they are contributing to the resilience of the community.

Examples could include but are not limited to:

  • rolling out longer term food and medicine delivery services;
  • formalising social groups or community ‘friend’ networks to support isolated people; or offering mental health support.

They will be looking for projects which strengthen the sense of community.

Please note that whilst they can fund some capital items, they cannot provide funding towards the costs of purchasing buildings or land (including associated costs such as planning permission).

They can fund revenue costs for your project. The impact they expect to see from these projects includes:

  • Reduced isolation for those living in rural areas through improved and extended services
  • Improved wellbeing for residents through an increase in community activity
  • Greater resilience for rural communities to weather future outbreaks of Covid-19 or similar events through having tried and tested mechanisms of support in place.

Who?

Applications are encouraged from properly constituted, community-led organisations with a turnover under £500k per year, which can demonstrate how beneficiaries will be drawn from the local rural community.

They are looking for applications from communities with a population of up to 3,000 residents. If you are a rural project with a population in excess of 3,000, please email them at grants@countrysidefund.org.uk to discuss your project.

Where?

They are open to applications from across the UK.

How Long?

They will be awarding funding for projects for up to one years’ duration, but all projects must be complete by 31st March 2022.
