Overview

Area of Interest

Interventions that seek to support women with extreme vulnerabilities which are likely to lead to offending.
Interventions that assist women leaving custody and offer support to reintegrate into local community.
Interventions that offer support to women on non-custodial sentences to prevent reoffending.
Interventions offering assistance to the families of female offenders and ex-offenders particularly support for children.
Interventions focusing on building the individual’s self-esteem and improving their social integration.

Priority will be given to applications from;

Groups currently working with women offenders.
Groups working with women offenders in rural towns.

Funding

This is a small grants programme the maximum award will be in the region of £2,000- £5,000

Consideration will be given to projects that are making connections or engaging with key organisations, both statutory and/or voluntary, working within the criminal justice system, health service or housing sector.

Consideration will be given to local community based organisations that seek to build their capacity, expertise and engagement with this area of work. A particular interest is to support initiatives working with women offenders in rural towns.

The award can be part of the project’s overall costs. However an award will not be made until all the funding is in place. The application should indicate the aspect of the project for which you are seeking funding.

For awards that are planning interventions on, alcohol and drug misuse we would expect to see evidence of links with existing expert providers.

The award can be used to cover training programmes, mentoring support, volunteer expenses, residential programmes, use of the creative arts, tutor and course fees and a contribution to administration costs.

The award cannot be used for equipment or capital expenditure.
