Philips Liveable Cities Award
Overview
Philips is looking for individuals, community or non-governmental organizations and businesses who have ideas - ideas for ‘simple solutions’ that will improve people’s health and well-being in a city.
To help translate these ideas into reality, three Award grants totaling €125,000 are on the line. One overall winning idea from any of the three categories outlined below will receive a grant of €75,000, while the two additional ideas will receive grants of €25,000.
There are three entry categories:
- Well-being Outdoors, with projects that help people to feel safe and secure in public spaces, or help create and identity and a sense of belonging.
- Independent Living, helping older people living alone to feel secure and comfortable living in a city, or to enable them to live longer at home while receiving access to appropriate healthcare.
- Healthy Lifestyle and Work at Home, supporting a healthy body and mind through improved surroundings or other essentials such as exercise, diet and sleep.
Three grants/Awards will be made: two will be worth €25,000 and an overall winner will get €75,000.
Who can enter?
Projects must be simple solutions, be original in that they have not been proposed or developed in part or whole before, and must be implementable within two years of the Award being made.
Entries should include the following information:
- What does your project aim to achieve?
- How will it meet the requirements of the specific Award category you are entering under?
- A brief description of the idea.
- Details of how it will be implemented.
- Timeline for implementation.
- An estimate of the budget required to complete the project.
- How will the effectiveness of the project be assessed?
Once the deadline has passed at the end of October 2010, a panel of experts will produce a shortlist of eligible projects.
You must apply online.
