Persimmon Charitable Foundation Grants
Overview
Foundation Aims
The Foundation distributes donations to charities and organisations, including those focused on:
- transforming communities through the provision of public amenities and recreational facilities
- promoting sustainable development
- social mobility and the advancement of young people and/or unemployed people through education and training
- helping people to lead more active lives through sport
- helping people to lead healthier lives, including supporting those living with health conditions and funding medical research
- helping people to overcome barriers such as poverty, disability and other disadvantages.
The Foundation distributes funding in the following ways:
- An open application programme - Charities and community groups can apply for one of two £50,000 donations, awarded twice a year in May and September.
- Annual donations - Donations are distributed to charities identified and selected by the Foundation in December each year.
- Additional donations - The Foundation supports ad hoc projects as they arise and reserves funds to support this contingency.
Open Application Programme
There are two rounds of funding, with a total of £200,000 available for distribution each year, in the form of four £50,000 donations distributed in May and September.
Funding will be awarded to registered charities only. Registered charities that were unsuccessful in the first funding round may apply again.
The programme is currently accepting applications. For this second round of funding, the Foundation welcomes applications from registered charities for UK-based projects that focus on:
- children and young people aged 14 to 25
- employability
- areas of economic and social deprivation.
Community groups and other charitable organisations based in England, Wales and Scotland are encouraged to apply for funding through Persimmon plc’s Community Champions scheme, which is separate from the Foundation’s charitable giving. Persimmon plc makes donations of up £6,000 to local charities and community groups in the areas where it operates every quarter. To find out more, visit the Community Champions website.
