Omagh District Council: Sports Forum Grants
Overview
Omagh Sports Forum's constitution states its objects are to:
- encourage participation in sport and a healthier lifestyle through publicityand marketing, etc.
- encourage participation in access, events and development of sport throughout the District.
- to annually recognise and celebrate the achievements of sports persons throughout the District.
- receive applications for Grant Aid, Sports Bursaries and Gold Card Scheme and agree Grant/Bursary amounts for each application in accordance with the criteria in place.
- increase opportunities for individuals, clubs and organisations to improve their coaching, administration performance and partnership working.
- act as a Forum for discussion and outreach to all communities throughout the District and undertake a monitoring and relevant consultative role in the Integated Strategy for Sport, Health and Leisure.
Grant programmes run by Omagh Sports Forum on behalf of the Council.
Coaching Course - Eligible costs up to a maximum of £350 per club/organisation over a12 month financial period. The Club/Organisation must apply on behalf of those attending the coaching course and attendees MUST be an active, affiliated member of that club/organisation.
Club Equipment Eligible costs up to a maximum of £300 per club/organisation over a 12 month financial period. NB: items of non-sporting equipment will not be considered; equipment must be of benefit to all club members.
Open Club Grant Eligible costs up to a maximum of £300 per club over a12 month financial period. Open Club Grant is provided towards Open Public Tournaments and Sporting Events that ALL members of the public can enter.
Sports Bursaries*The purpose of these awards is to facilitate achievement by aspiring individual performers who have the ability and potential to bring recognition and success at national and international level to the Omagh district. A maximum Sports Bursary amount of £400 per individual over a12 month financial period is available. The maximum rates of reimbursement are as follows: MILEAGE: 28p per mile, ACCOMMODATION: £20 per night, MEALS: £5 per meal (claims can only be made if staying overnight).
Gold Card Scheme* This Scheme aims to recognise sports persons from the Omagh District Council area who have achieved international or national success/recognition in their chosen sport. Such sports persons will, on application, be admitted to the Gold Card Scheme and will be permitted complimentary use, on an individual basis, of identified recreation facilities owned and managed by Omagh District Council in recognition of their achievements. (Awarded ONCE annually)
