Overview
Applications for funding for projects and initiatives may be made where these fall within the Objects of the Trust.
The objects of the Trust are as follows:
- To advance the education of the public by means of research and dissemination of information in relation to agriculture
- To advance the education of young people within rural areas
- To relieve poverty within rural areas
- To promote the benefit and social welfare of inhabitants of rural communities by associating together with the inhabitants and local authorities, voluntary and other organisations to advance education and leisure
- To promote research into agriculture associated activities
- To advance the education of the public by means of research and dissemination of information in relation to insurance
The NFU Mutual Charitable Trust will focus on providing funding to larger initiatives, which would have a significant impact on the rural community. The primary focuses that are outlined in the Charitable Trust’s strategy are as follows:
- Education of the public about agriculture and education of young people in rural areas
- Relief of hardship and promotion of mental health and wellbeing in rural communities
- Support for the next generation of farmers

Grants range from £1,000 to £ 50,000. Larger donations are specifically aimed at supporting organisations that have a significant impact on rural communities at a national level.
