Overview

Threshold: Grants are between £500 minimum and £2,500 maximum.

Indicative budget for the theme is £50,000. Please note this is subject to change. 

Latest project end date: All project activity MUST be completed no later than 31st of October 2025.

Aim: 

The primary purpose of this is to support organisations from the sporting, community, and voluntary sectors in the delivery of Sports Programmes and Competitive Sports Events, with a focus on the delivery of sports activities and events which complement the Council’s Sports Facility and Sports & Physical Activity Strategy. 

Objectives: 

The objectives of this grant is to support organisations who run Sports Programmes and Competitive Sports Events. 

Sports Programmes should be delivered: 

  • for a minimum of five full days (5hrs per day) 

or 

  • ten half days (2.5hrs per day) 

Competitive Sports Events should be delivered: 

  • For at least one full day 
  • Should have no less than 100 participants 

Sports programmes and Competitive Sports Events should increase and support the number of people adopting and sustaining a sporting lifestyle particularly for:

  • Women and girls 
  • People with disability 
  • Those living in areas of high social need 

Applicants must deliver Sporting projects that complement the Council Sports & Physical Activity Strategy which can be requested via email leisureandsport@nmandd.org

Eligible Costs

  • Costs associated with the delivery of Competitive Sports Events throughout the delivery period
  • Sports activities including coaches (up to a maximum of 25% of total budget) Please note Third party contractors are not eligible 
  • Equipment (up to a maximum of 25% of total budget) 
  • One-off event insurance linked to the project is eligible or, if applicable, part payment of annual insurance. Please note the part payment should be proportionate to the 4 activity taking place (and must be pre-agreed with the Grants & Funding Unit prior to claiming).

The Council will only consider one application per organisation for the Sports Programmes programme.

Projects must be delivered between 1 st of May and 31st of October 2025
