Overview
MISSION STATEMENT OF MOYLE DISTRICT COUNCIL GOOD RELATIONS PROGRAMME:
“To focus on Good Relations issues within the District, in a constructive, enduring and cost beneficial manner.”
THE AIMS OF THE GOOD RELATIONS GRANT AID PROGRAMME ARE:
- to assist local communities to work towards realisation of the themes of the Together: Building a United Community (TBAUC) strategy, which are:
- To improve attitudes amongst our young people and build communities where they can play a full and active role in building Good Relations;
- To create a community where division does not restrict the life opportunities of individuals and where all areas are open and accessible to all;
- To create a community where everyone feels safe in moving around and where life choices are not inhibited by fears around safety;
- To create a community which promotes mutual respect and understanding, is strengthened by its diversity, and where cultural expression is celebrated and embraced.
The above aims may be promoted through provision of Good Relations grants:
- to support single identity work which promotes understanding and education and increases confidence of a community in its own culture, heritage and traditions;
- to increase cross community contact and cooperation;
- to support programmes and events which promote greater mutual understanding;
- to develop the capacity and confidence of local community groups and organisations to engage in good relations work;
- to promote appreciation, tolerance and understanding of cultural diversity and traditions.
The Good Relations Grant Aid Programme is targeted at locally based groups within the Moyle District Council area and not at individuals.
