Overview

Civil Society Programme

The mission of the Civil Society program is to strengthen philanthropy and the nonprofit sector as vital vehicles for increasing civic engagement and improving communities and societies. Mott’s Civil Society program provides grants to organizations in Central and Eastern Europe and South Africa:

  • Strengthening Civic Space: they strive to promote, protect and reinvigorate the space for civic engagement.
  • Enhancing Community Philanthropy: they support the development of commuity foundations that foster just, equitable and sustainable societies
  • Increasing Access to Justice: they promote social equity in communities by increasing access to justice
  • Special Initiatives: they support unique opportunities to advance the Civil Society mission.

Funding for unsolicited proposals is limited throughout the programme. Those interested in applying for funding are strongly encouraged to submit letters of inquiry instead of a full proposal.
