Purpose of Revenue Grant Programme

To promote fitness and wellbeing of the community

To promote a peaceful, inclusive, safe and welcoming society in the District.
In support of these objectives, the Revenue Sports Grant Programme has the following aims:

Long-term sustainability - Supporting the development of sport and sports groups in the district.

Social inclusion- increasing participation in sport amongst all sectors of people within the District.

Sporting Excellence - increasing the standard of sporting provision within the District.
Description of the Revenue Sports Grant Programme (there are 6 in total)

Sportsperson/Team Representative Grant: The Sportsperson/Team Representative grant exists to financially assist individuals or teams who have been selected by their governing body to participate in a representative team at provincial, national or international level whatever the nationality. A 75% grant on eligible costs, to a maximum of a £500 grant may be available, depending on the availability of funding. This is the only revenue sports grant that is open for applications throughout the year, depending on the availability of funding.

Sports Club Coaching Grant: This grant is to train new coaches by providing financial assistance towards coach education courses. A 25% grant for a senior club or a 40% grant for a junior club, on eligible costs, to a maximum of £500 grant per application, may be available depending on the availability of funding.

Sports Club Elite Coaching Grant: The Sports Club Elite Coaching Grant is to improve the quality of existing coaches by providing financial assistance towards Coach Education Courses which will be used to benefit clubs within the Magherafelt District Council area. A 75% grant on eligible costs may be available, depending on the availability of funding and shall be determined by the total registered, insured, playing membership over 12 years of age in the club, at the rate of £3.00 per person. In the case of a pooled application, the amount of grant shall be the total of what each club in the pool would have received if they had applied in their own right.

Sports Club Competitive Grant: The Sports Club Competitive Grant exists to financially assist organisations such as sports clubs, youth groups and schools who are travelling to compete in a sporting competition outside Northern Ireland. A 25% grant on eligible costs, to a maximum of £500 grant per application, may be available, depending on the availability of funding.

Sports Club Seeding Grant: The Sports Club Seeding Grant is to financially assist the development of new sports clubs within the Magherafelt District Council area. A 25% grant on eligible costs, to a maximum of £500 grant per application may be available, depending on the availability of funding.

Sporting Event Grant: The Sports Club Sporting Event Grant exists to financially assist sports clubs who are organising a competitive sporting event within the Magherafelt District Council area. A 25% grant on eligible costs, to a maximum of £500 grant per application may be available, depending on the availability of funding.
