AWARD CATEGORIES

There are 8 Award categories:

Civic Pride Award

An individual or group who strive to improve their surroundings. Enthusiastic about making a difference, they will be inspiring, dedicated and a key figure in the improvement of the local environment. This could be for tackling litter, raising awareness or the transformation of a public space. Describe the impacts they have had on the wider community and environment.

Health and Wellbeing Award

This award recognises the wide-reaching benefits of environmental volunteering for those who take part and the community who benefit from their work. Tell them about the positives impacts on your health and wellbeing, personal goals you have reached, barriers you have broken and/or the difference a project has made to others.

BIG Transformation Award

This award recognises a significant transformation to an open/public space which showcases environmental stewardship and community engagement. Open to food growing projects, community gardens, urban alleys and schools that have engaged with their communities and have had a positive impact within their local area.

Connecting Communities Award

A group or individual who is pivotal in connecting people across geographical, generational or cultural boundaries for a common goal. It could be a litterpicking team, community group or a person who has dedicated time to reaching out to connect others, including during the last two years to combat the impacts of COVID19.

Hidden Gem Award

Is there a person in your community who you’ve admired from afar for just getting ‘on with it’? A group or individual who modestly carries out their volunteering for the benefit of others? Or, have you discovered a lesser known project that you feel deserves recognition? Nominate them to share their good deeds and give them recognition for their efforts. Biodiversity Champion Award An individual or group who have turned a grey space into a thriving hive of home for nature. They have transformed a site into a wildlife oasis and helped connect people to nature. The site can be urban or rural, large or small and include food growing projects.

Adopt A Spot Winner (Sponsored by DAERA)

An individual or group who take action on litter through the Adopt A Spot programme. Inspiring others, regularly collecting litter from their local area and setting a positive example to others. (Nominee must be registered on the Adopt A Spot programme).

Spirit of Live Here Love Here Award (Sponsored by Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful)

A special award for an individual or group who encompasses the ‘Spirit of Live Here Love Here’. Leading by example, inspiring others to take action and promoting sustainable living. The winner will have exceeded the boundaries of ‘normal’ clean ups and community engagement. They have gone above and beyond the expectations and embody the message of Live Here Love Here through their voluntary work

NOMINATIONS

Groups/ individuals can be nominated for as many awards as you wish. These awards are to reward groups and individuals carrying out environmental improvement activities in a voluntary capacity. Please remember volunteers come in many forms; don’t forget the management committee or someone who may not formally volunteer regularly but is always there when you need them.

AWARD ASSESSMENT

The Live Here Love Here Community Awards will be judged by a panel of Live Here Love Here judges with relevant experience in community development and the environmental sector. All nominations will be examined carefully by the judging panel and judge’s decision is final. Please note that unfortunately due to time and resource constraints, feedback on unsuccessful applications will not be provided.

PRIZES

All award winners will receive a commemorative award in recognition of their efforts plus a framed certificate.
