Lisburn & Castlereagh City Council: 75th Annniversary of VE Day Celebration Community Grant

Eligibility

This Small Grants Programme is open to community groups & voluntary organisations that have;

a) an open and accountable governing document (Constitution or Articles and Memorandum of Association) that has been properly adopted and demonstrates that the organisation’s membership is open to all regardless of age, gender, disability, sexual orientation, nationality, ethnic identity, religious belief, political opinion, marital status and with or without dependents

b) a bank account in the name of the organisation, which requires a minimum of two unrelated members to authorise withdrawals and an annual set of independently examined financial accounts, endorsed at an Annual General Meeting.

c) A management committee, elected by its membership at an Annual General Meeting, and elected office bearers.

d) Have appropriate policies for protecting Children and Vulnerable adults, who are involved as part of the group’s programme.

e) Adequate public liability insurance cover, to cover all risk associated with the activities of the organisation.

Programme Criteria

The VE Day Celebration Fund is a competitive scheme and applications will be assessed and scored against the scheme criteria. Organisations must clearly demonstrate on their application form how they meet the following;

  1. The provision of a community led festival / street party which demonstrates community involvement in the organisation and delivery of the event, delivered for the 75th Anniversary of VE day between Friday 1st May and Saturday 9th May 2020.
  2. Having the VE day celebration as the central theme of the community celebration being organised
  3. Delivery of an inclusive programme that brings individuals together to celebrate the anniversary of VE Day, encourages relationship development and contributes to the development of a strong community infrastructure.
  4. A programme that has considered all of the regulations and requirements of organising a community celebration, including Health and Safety, Child Protection and Insurance implications.
  5. Activities and programmes that clearly demonstrates value for Money.

Please note:

In order to ensure that grants are allocated across the Council area, as far as is possible, grants may be allocated taking into consideration the location of the event.

In the event of this grant scheme being over-subscribed the Council reserves the right to reduce the amount of grant aid offered to keep within allocated budget.

What is funded?

Under the 75th Anniversary of VE Day Fund, they will fund the following expenditure;

  • Catering costs & refreshments.
  • Inflatables, Face Painters, festival activities
  • Artists, performers and/or guest speakers
  • Venue Hire
  • Hire of equipment, used as part of festival
  • Decorations and/or VE Day merchandise
  • Marketing costs (including printing & advertisement)
  • Materials directly related to the event.
