Overview
Who can be nominated for a justice award?
You can nominate anyone, an individual or group, who you think are working hard to promote and deliver justice within their local communities. They could be:
- volunteers or staff in voluntary and community groups
- people working in the criminal justice system
- people working with offenders to help reduce reoffending
- people supporting victims or witnesses
- people working with young people to tackle anti-social behaviour
The list above is only a few examples of the work your nominee could be involved in. Past winners have included:
- a youth development worker using football as a medium to reducing anti-social behaviour
- volunteers raising awareness about human trafficking
- individuals working for a community restorative justice organisation working to develop relationships between their community and local statutory organisations such as the police
Award
There will be one top award, made by the Minister of Justice, up to the value of £1,000 for purchase of equipment or services to benefit the winner’s local community. Any equipment or services will be purchased by the Department of Justice on behalf of the award winner.
All nominations will be considered by an independent judging panel. The overall winner will receive £1,000 to invest in their community project. A number of Highly Commended Awards will also be made.
