Overview

The Hughes Insurance Sports Volunteer Awards is a national competition aimed at recognising and rewarding Northern Ireland's sports volunteers

Who are the unsung heroes of local sport - the ones who give their time to coach the team, to drive a minibus, to wash the kit?

It's time they got some recognition, so get your nominations in now for the Hughes Sports Volunteer Awards.

Each of their 12 branches will offer a trophy and £200 for the local winner plus £500 for the team, club or group.

All 12 will then go forward to the Northern Ireland finals with a national prize of £500 for the individual and £1000 for the club.

The Hughes Insurance Sports Volunteer Awards is open to anyone who has been involved as sports volunteer in their community for two years or more. The competition is for volunteers only; it isn't open to individuals who are paid for their sporting work in the community with entry open to residents of Northern Ireland aged 18 and over

Criteria

The entry that the majority considers in its subjective opinion to be providing the best voluntary sporting service to its community shall be deemed the winning entry
