Who they fund

The Headley Trust funds registered charities and charitable organisations with clearly defined charitable purposes.

Your project/work must fit with the following programme areas:

Programme areas

Arts and Heritage UK

  • The Trust funds regional museums and galleries (including local authority museums). Main areas of interest are support for curators and acquisitions; the display, study and acquisition of British ceramics; conservation of industrial, maritime and built heritage; archaeology; arts education including digitisation and outreach.
  • The Trust will also consider cathedrals & major churches within the UK.

Cathedrals (Anglican only)

  • Funding will be considered towards restoration or repair work to the fabric of ancient cathedrals, parish church cathedrals (that are members of the Major Churches Network) and large churches of exceptional architectural merit that were built before 1850.
  • The trust will also consider conservation of monuments; applications for energy efficient measures if part of a wider appeal for fabric conservation; applications for fire and burglar alarms; applications for solar panels and photovoltaic cells.

Health and Social Welfare

  • The Trust funds projects that support older people to live independently for as long as possible in their own home or improve their quality of life in residential care. The trust also supports projects that help disadvantaged families and young people, especially with access to basic needs, parenting, young people with experience of the care system and strengthening educational engagement.

Overseas

  • Developing Countries - the Trust funds development projects that focus on education and employment interventions for women and girls; water, sanitation and hygiene and community health programmes in the poorest anglophone countries in Africa (Kenya, Malawi, Sierra Leone, Somaliland, Uganda, Zambia). Priority will be given to locally led organisations employing local experts.  Please do not submit an enquiry if your country is not mentioned above.

  • Arts & Heritage Overseas - the Trust funds conservation and recording of heritage; programmes that build the capacity of the cultural heritage sector and engage young people in their heritage in South Eastern Europe (Albania, Bosnia Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, North Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia.)  Priority will be given to locally led organisations employing local experts.  Please do not submit an enquiry if your country is not mentioned above.
