Overview

Youth Events Scheme

Foras na Gaeilge is providing funding for suitable youth events programmes of twelve sessions through Irish for young people between the ages of three and eighteen outside the Gaeltacht:

  • which aim to strengthen the Irish language through a combination of events;
  • other than residential events;
  • between 1 September 2024 and 30 June 2025;
  • competitions, or one-day events.

Grants are awarded with public money, and Foras na Gaeilge has statutory obligations to ensure value for money for all funded projects.

Foras na Gaeilge encourages applicants to seek co-funding for projects, where appropriate, and to collaborate with other organisations to obtain the best value from the Foras na Gaeilge grant.

They particularly welcome applications from organisations located in areas recognised in Government strategies or legislation.

Summer Camp Scheme

Foras na Gaeilge is providing funding for suitable summer camps through Irish for young people (3 – 18 years of age):

  • which aim to strengthen the Irish language through a combination of events;
  • which are not residential camps;
  • lasting 5 days;
  • least 4.5 hours per day;
  • between 23 June and 29 August 2025.

This is a not-for-profit scheme to keep camp fees low for the young people.

Grants are awarded with public money, and Foras na Gaeilge has statutory obligations to ensure value for money for all funded projects.

Foras na Gaeilge encourages applicants to seek co-funding for projects, where appropriate, and to collaborate with other organisations to obtain the best value from the Foras na Gaeilge grant.

We particularly welcome applications from organisations located in areas identified in government strategies and/or legislation.

The Projects Fund

Foras na Gaeilge welcomes organisations wishing to apply to the Projects Fund. This is a fund which is aimed at areas of work and projects not covered by Foras na Gaeilge schemes and between €1,000/£900 and €12,000/£10,800 is available in grants.

Applications will be welcomed which demonstrate:

  1. that the promotion, fostering and preservation of the Irish language is a main aim of the project for which a grant is sought.
  2. that the project is in accordance with the strategy of Foras na Gaeilge.
  3. that there is a need for the project
  4. that value for money is available to Foras na Gaeilge.

Projects such as the following will be welcomed:

  1. Innovative projects which would benefit the Irish language sector or the Irish language community.
  2. Projects which develop new concepts which would benefit the Irish language sector or the Irish language community.
  3. Projects which would have a wide influence on the Irish language sector or on the Irish language community.
  4. Projects which ensure the promotion, fostering and preservation of the Irish language.

Major Arts Events Scheme

This scheme focuses on major events which aim to foster and promote the Irish language and language-based Irish language arts through the medium of Irish or bilingually as a part of a major event. As well as that, this scheme focuses on the Irish language social networks, the general public and the arts sector on an all-island and international basis.

The Major Arts Events Scheme will be open to appropriate professional groups to give them an opportunity to develop major arts events or elements of major arts events being run and implemented through the medium of Irish or of which the language-based Irish language arts are a central part.
