Overview

First Trust Bank is a trading name of AIB Group (UK) plc in Northern Ireland. They were ranked 30th in the Northern Ireland Top 100 Companies by the Belfast Telegraph in 2010. In 2008 the bank made a profit of £33m

AIB put First Trust up for sale in March last year and has had difficulty finding a buyer.

First Trust made a £52m loss between January and June, with its parent company reporting a €2bn loss.

In December 2010, AIB received a €3bn bailout from the Irish government, which now owns over 90% of the company. In January of this year, AIB exited the Irish stock exchange and began trading on the Enterprise Securities Market, a junior index of the main Iseq

AIB Group has its own overarching Corporate Social Responsibility policy.

First Trust Community and Partnership Fund

Through donation and sponsorship, First Trust Bank is involved with numerous charities throughout Northern Ireland. Staff support for local charities is both facilitated and actively encouraged through the Bank's in-house Community and Partnership Fund.

Through the Bank's selection of a nominated charity, several local charities including Barnardo's, Help the Aged and Macmillan Cancer Relief have benefited through large-scale corporate donation and fundraising by First Trust Bank staff in the recent past.

First Trust is also a member of the BITC Percent Club which commits the company to investing at least 1% of pre-tax profit back into the community.
