Overview

All Grant applications to the Fermanagh District Council Community Relations scheme must address the stated aims and objectives of the CR policy.

Objectives are as follows:

  • to encourage cross-community contact on issues of common interest/concern
  • to promote co-operation between the different sections of the community
  • to develop the capacity for transforming communal divisions/conflicts
  • to promote understanding and respect for cultural traditions and diversity
  • to develop the capacity for relationship building.

Associated objectives are:

  • to promote the principles of citizenship, civic leadership and “equity, diversity and interdependence”
  • to identify regional approaches to overcoming community divisions and creating greater understanding
  • to promote an integrated approach to the need to have regard for

Grants:

Community Relations Week: Support for non-profit organisations to showcase the community work they undertake year round.

Good Relations Grant up to a maximum of £700: Support for non-profit organisations to identifiy local need and/or further develop project ideas. Applications accepted all year.

Good Relations Grant up to a maximum of £1,000: Support for non-profit organisations to identify local need and/or develop project ideas. Applications accepted all year.

Community Group Seeding Grant: £200 grant aid for community groups starting up to help them to develop their projects. Applications accepted all year.

To be considered for grant aid through the Community Relations Programme, a project must meet at least one of the following objectives:

  • to encourage greater contact between the different communities in the district
  • to encourage programmes and events which promote greater mutual understanding
  • to encourage interest and appreciation of cultural diversity

Consideration will be given to projects which fall within the following general categories:

  • community development
  • cultural traditions
  • community relations education/training
  • peace and reconciliation
