Overview

Background to Culture Night

Culture Night is a UK and Ireland-wide initiative that celebrates arts, culture, and creativity. To mark Culture Night, galleries, arts, and cultural centres, museums, artists’ studios, historic buildings, churches and other places of cultural interest are encouraged to open their doors to the public to showcase their programmes, activities, and facilities.

Background to European Heritage Open Day

European Heritage Open Days is an annual event celebrating local architecture, history and culture, which takes place across Europe on the second weekend in September. In Northern Ireland European Heritage Open Days (EHOD) is run by the Department for Communities with the support of the Council of Europe and the European Commission.

Eligibility

1. Culture Night:

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council will provide sponsorship support to a maximum of 15 groups / individuals across the district with up to £200 support along with assistance with marketing and publicity.

Essential Criteria for Applicants:

  • Only groups / organisations can apply
  • Groups must be constituted
  • Groups must have a bank account signed by 2 or more people
  • All applicants must have public liability insurance

Essential Criteria for events/activities:

  • Must celebrate culture
  • Must demonstrate public benefit
  • Takes place on Friday 20 September 2024
  • Free of charge (for participants & audience)
  • Open to everyone
  • Publicised through Fermanagh & Omagh District Council’s Culture Night programme

2. European Heritage Open Day:

Fermanagh & Omagh District Council will provide sponsorship support to a maximum of 15 groups/organisations across the district with up to £200 support along with assistance with marketing and publicity.

Essential Criteria for Applicants:

  • Only groups/organisations can apply
  • Groups must be constituted
  • Groups must have a bank account signed by 2 or more people
  • All applicants must have public liability insurance

Essential Criteria for events/activities:

  • Events and activities must aim to enhance access to, understanding of, appreciation for, and enjoyment of our local heritage
  • Must demonstrate public benefit
  • Takes place on 14 and/or 15 September 2024
  • Free of charge (for participants & audience)
  • Open to everyone
  • Publicised through Fermanagh & Omagh District Council
